The curriculum at Gunn Christian Academy is organized with the goal of offering challenging courses that lay the foundation for achieving excellence and providing opportunities for every student to attend college or enter the workforce with the skills to succeed. Our instruction follows the A Beka curriculum along with the use of other instructional resources.
The administrative and academic team will:
provide a consistent core of effective instruction across grade levels through professional development offerings
collect, analyze and expand the use of classroom data through data analysis, assessments and instructional planning
actively communicate with students and their families to ensure as much parental involvement in the educational process as possible.
Students must earn twenty-eight graduation credits in grades nine through twelve. to receive a diploma. Credits earned at previously attended schools can be combined with those earned at GCA.
There is an opportunity to earn credits through the Independent Adult Studies Program designed for students 19 years and older. This innovative program places the student on the path to a high school diploma through self-paced, individualized lesson plans.
A formal graduation ceremony is held each December and May. All students must demonstrate completion of all required core subjects by mastering a 70% or better on a Master Final for each core level.
We offer credit recovery for failed subjects. Summer school provides an opportunity for students to earn additional credits toward graduation and credit recovery. A Saturday ACT and SAT Academy is planned to further assist students.
